Team Brazil powered to a commanding win at the E1 Lagos GP on Sunday, dominating the continent's first all-electric powerboat race with a flawless performance that netted 38 points and vaulted them to seventh in the standings.
Timmy Hansen, steering the Brazilian crew, leveraged Saturday's pole position to lead from the green light, topping practice times and qualifying before sealing the final with precision on Lagos Lagoon.
The triumph edged out Virat Kohli's Team Blue Rising into second and Didier Drogba's Global Africa squad to third, in a high-octane weekend that blended adrenaline with eco-advocacy for the series launched last year in Jeddah.
Hansen credited the inside lane: "We had a fantastic time in Lagos... a brilliant start, and it was smooth sailing." Team Brady clung to the championship lead at 154 points despite fourth place, three ahead of Rafael Nadal's Team Rafa (151 from fifth), while Kohli's Blue Rising held third at 145.
The penultimate round sets a tense Miami finale next month, where Brady eyes the crown.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, addressing journalists post-race, framed the GP as a vision realized: "It's not just about sports—it's innovation, environmental responsibility, and putting Lagos on the global map for future-focused development."
The electric series, free of fossil fuels, spotlights Africa's green potential, though infrastructure hurdles like charging networks test scalability.
The event underscores Lagos' ambition to host world-class spectacles, drawing global stars and spotlighting clean tech in a city of 20 million where waterways hold untapped promise amid climate calls.
